This is our second stay at this hotel which is now our to go to place when we go to San Jose. Very friendly staff, rooms are clean, good breakfast and we tried dinner for the first time and loved it!!

Friendly staff, nice location away from the busy city and a few nice restaurants and cafes in walking distance, very peaceful. Would stay here again.

This was my second stay at Hotel Villa Los Candiles, and once again, it exceeded all expectations. The hotel is wonderfully quiet, the rooms are spacious, and the bed is incredibly comfortable, I slept like a rock! What truly sets this place apart is the staff. Olga and Arlen in the restaurant are exceptional. Their warmth, attention to detail, and genuine effort to make every guest feel at home is something you rarely find. They made each meal feel special and personal. I came back because of how great my first stay was and this visit just confirmed it: Villa Los Candiles is a true gem. I’ll definitely return again.

It is a lovely property with the nicest staff. Our junior suite was perfect and overlooked the tiny, but cute pool. Front office staff and every else friendly, helpful and upbeat.

This is my new go to place to stay when I’m in the area. It feels like you have the property to yourself and the staff is amazing. The beds are comfortable, AC is great and room is comfortable. Great breakfast! I have no complaints and after so many bad local AirBnB experiences it’s refreshing to stay here.

The family suite was exceptional. Service was top tier from all angles. Breakfast is typical costa rican food which I liked. Security on site all evenings which was a nice touch. Neighborhood is walkable. We spent a good amount of time walking back and forth to restaurants and it was completely safe.

Had a lovely stay with my mom in February. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helped us get our bags up to the room. The room was clean and air conditioned and had a great big window with a beautiful mountain view. In the morning, the kitchen staff were extremely pleasant and made our breakfast to order. My only complaint was that the shower was set up a little awkwardly and had trouble draining properly, resulting in a puddle at our feet whilst we showered. Overall, it was a very nice stay and I would definitely stay here again.

Wondering about the additional fees

The hotel was in good condition and the room I selected was spacious and clean. However, I was charged an additional $113 dollars because we traveled in a party of THREE for a room that could hold 5-6 people. There were two double beds and a sleeper sofa.

Im blown away by "Exceptional" reviews on various sites. To be fair, the guy at the reception did everything he could. We had to change room FOUR times. One had a smelly carpet. Another one didnt drain water in the sink. Third one smelled musty and had stains on the curtains and walls. Basic rooms are tiny with zero decoration on white walls. By whose standards are they exceptional? This is Motel 6 level in the US. In the end they upgraded us for a bigger room for the inconvenience but when we were about to take a shower it turned out there was no hot water, the whole building was "solar powered". The only solution they could offer us at this point was to take a shower in another building in the room with non working sink.
