Athena Hotel, Kokkari – Our Second Visit We've just returned for our second stay at Athena Hotel, and our experience was very much the same as our first visit. The hotel's location is fantastic, just across a small road from the beautiful pebbled beach, with Kokkari's lovely restaurants, bars and shops all within easy walking distance. It's a wonderful base for enjoying the village and exploring Samos. The hotel continues to offer good value for money, with a lovely pool area and an excellent location. As with our previous visit, there are still areas where improvements could be made, particularly regarding the rooms could do with updating better pillows and breakfast is very basic. One noticeable improvement this time was the Wi-Fi. We stayed in room 40, and the internet connection was considerably better than during our first visit, which was a welcome change. Overall, our opinion of Athena Hotel remains the same. It's a lovely place to stay if location and value for money are your priorities. Although there are still a few areas that could benefit from attention, we enjoyed returning and would happily recommend it to anyone wanting to experience beautiful Kokkari.

Athena Hotel is in a fantastic location, just across a small road from the beautiful pebbled beach, and surrounded by lots of lovely bars and restaurants. The staff are pleasant, welcoming, and always helpful throughout the stay. The rooms are clean, basic, and typically Greek in style. They are a little dated, but they have everything you need, including air conditioning and the option of a safe. The beds are slightly on the firm side, but the bedding is good quality and the pillows are comfortable. If you stay in the rooms above the reception area, it can be a little noisy early in the morning as deliveries sometimes start from around 6:30am, but it’s nothing too overwhelming. The breakfast is plentiful but quite basic. There’s bread, jams, butter, meats, a couple of cheeses, yogurt, peaches, honey, boiled eggs, and a choice of three cereals. Tea and coffee are available in abundance, although neither the drinks nor the juices are the best. This is probably the one area that could really be improved. Internet is pretty poor, I had to use mobile data most of the time. The pool area is clean and well kept, although it can get busy at times. Luckily, the sea is only moments away and absolutely beautiful. Overall, I would happily return and would definitely recommend this hotel. It offers great value, a brilliant location, and a lovely Greek holiday atmosphere — with breakfast being the only real tweak I’d make.
