Terrible Italian hospitality. We gave over 4 days notice when my father in law had a deadly blood infection and had to rush back to Canada to the hospital. We had pictures, documentation that he changed his flights etc. Everyone including tours, transfers, flights and hotels was accommodating, but Hotel Nazionale charged us $2000 cad despite telling Expedia that if we had documentation they would courtesy a cancel. So disappointing. It’s high season in Rome and they definitely were able to fill the room with 4+ days notice. To insist on charging the full amount and not even issuing a partial credit despite agreeing to it at first is just terrible practice.
