"rude staff not wanting to address the issues that we were concerned about, this place evidently is an extended stay property with regular tennants sitting out in their vehicles while their diesel engines were running getting drunk, smoking weed and just stared at us as they were parked right in front of our door....looked like weirdos on crack. we had other family members in a room two doors down that could no longer stand being stared at like zoo amimals and dealing with with the weed and the engines running so they had to leave and took a room at another location saying to us that they walked accross the floor one time and their socks were black from the lack of cleaning and the air conditioner sounded like a growling dog. I could say more but I am sure that whoever reads this will get the point..."

"Our stay at 14 West Boutique Hotel met the baseline expectations for a 3-star property, with a few notable highlights and drawbacks. The biggest selling point is definitely the location. It is incredibly convenient and makes exploring the best parts of Laguna Beach very easy. We did run into a brief issue at check-in when our first room had an overwhelmingly strong smell of chemical detergent or bleach. Fortunately, the staff was very accommodating and responsive—they changed our room immediately without any hassle. The second room was clean, comfortable, and everything went smoothly for the rest of our stay. Keep in mind that while it is labeled a "boutique hotel," the exterior-corridor layout feels much more like a traditional motel. If you adjust your expectations for a solid 3-star motel-style property in an excellent location, it is a perfectly fine choice. Pros: Fantastic location, helpful and quick-acting staff, clean second room. Cons: Strong initial chemical odor in the first room; overall vibe and layout lean heavily toward a motel."

"We did not stay! It was not clean and smelled dirty. We could hear everything in the room next to ours especially the TV. Unfortunately i paid and we are having a hard time with a refund! The only good thing was Nathan, the guy at the desk! He kept trying to make us happy but we just had to leave! It is old and the rooms are really small."

"The photos are very dated and misleading. This property is being used as long term rentals and has residents. There are pets, smells of cooking, and residents who find it funny to put peanut butter on door handles. I'd urge management to view cameras, but I'd doubt they're operational. Our bathroom door was so rotten and water logged it wouldn't shut. The bath itself was moldy with little hot water or pressure, the shampoos that weren't attached to the walls but sitting in the corners smelled like gasoline. The rug throught our room was so tired, stained and fraying I wore my shoes the entire time. The real test was a piece of bread that was in the stairway, it sat there for 3 days during our stay without housekeeping picking it up. I really can't make these things up. Hats off to the pest company though, no animals or bugs dragged the bread away. My advice, unless you absolutely have to stay here, don't."

"I booked this stay last minute and did not know what to expect. Upon arrival there was no parking available for my box van even when they said they would block off the one and only space that could've accomodated the truck, and they gave my wife crap about our dog. The description on Hotels.com said dog friendly. Also, we do not need to have our room cleaned everyday, so when we left for the day to do what we were in town to do, we left the "Do not disturb" sign on the door. Everyday the tag was taken off and the room was cleaned. I believe they wanted to make sure our dog wasn't making a mess, but still, there was no semblance of privacy. AND... They had a huge issue with use checking in after 6PM! We didn't arrive until 8, what kind of hotel isn't in the service industry?"
