"Staff at reception welcomed us while chewing. Decent sized room, but it was 26,5C in there - when called reception was told air conditioning is not working yet. Night was quite unpleasant, as on top of no air con, ventilation was also missing (both in the room and in the bathroom). Spa experience was also disappointing- one of the 2 pools was not open. "Came for an Energy conference and only stayed one night. Got an unexpected free upgrade and breakfast and a gorgeous modern corner room. The hotel has a gym and a pool however if you plan to swim (like I did) you need a swimming cap and entrance is 20 eur extra. Staff were all great very helpful and best thing: no waiting times at checkin or checkout."

"The hotel is very overpriced. It is outdated and hotel staff were aloof. Mediocre overall. The gym was very dirty and had little to no equipment. The floors were filthy and hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. No mats, towels and in a dungeon. The breakfast was mediocre. Would like to see healthier options and plant based options would be appreciated like in most other hotels. Would not be back."

"Staff not helpful at all. Housekeeping skip days for cleaning. They don’t give you water bottles. The ironing board was damage, broken. The bed was small and the room I tried to get was not for 3 people. The description says 1 sofa bed but there was a sofa only. No comforter just a rusty brown type of throw. Only good thing is that hotel is right next to a mall and in front of the bus stop. That is it."

"At this price point, Hotel Grand, in Samakov, is excellent value. The owner, Stanislav, was very helpful and gave us great service. The room was fine, the restaurant was fine, the bar was fine. There are 4 large supermarkets very near the hotel. We like supermarkets :) We had a great, comfortable stay. Thank you Stanislav and your team :)"

"The towels need replacing - they were old, frayed and with holes. Please check your minibar upon arrival. I was charged a deposit for the minibar, which I only later noticed was completely empty. Luckily, one of the receptionists kindly refunded the money the same day."

Our room was above the in house Georgian restaurant, we didn't try it but it looked very popular. There was live entertainment which went on late, maybe 12am, we could hear it in our room which was directly above but it didn't stop us from going to sleep. The Vitosha area had a nice atmosphere and lovely view...
