Obviously not flowing at this stage in the Dry Season, but Leichhardt Falls is a wonderful oasis in the middle of the dry Gulf Country. Just don't be tempted to go for a swim here - completely unsafe due to the prevalence of largw saltwater crocodiles
This was taken on the main walk that follows the river. This would be around an hour into the hike. You have to cross the stream, from memory, 21 times but it's not like what you see here, it's shallow and mostly involves rock hopping. I just love the way the figs put out their roots in bizarre places.

Pacific or White Necked Heron. I have labeled this Springsure and that was certainly the town, but this little waterhole with natural slide is right by the highway. Problem is, I can't remember which end of town - it is just out of town, so if you didn't pass it on the way in, it is the other end - but would be worth asking a local in case the current weather conditions mean it either isn't running or is dangerous. Beautiful spot for a swim, some bird watching and a picnic.
