No expense has been spared in the building of this astonishing shopping center, which is modeled on luxurious Italian shopping arcades of the belle epoque. The floors are made from polished Tuscan marble, the gardens in the center of the mall are full of olive trees imported from Sicily and there is a 130-foot (40-meter) glass dome overhead. Look closely and you’ll even find a miniature version of the Louvre glass pyramid used as an entrance.
Shop in style for perfume, couture clothing, bags, shoes and even car services. Peek inside the Alhazm Cultural Center, a wood-paneled library that has red crushed velvet banquettes and chairs where you can relax with a beautiful, leather-bound book. Drive for about 20 minutes northwest of the city center to get to Alhazm. Use the on-site underground parking lot. If you're traveling on public transportation, ride one of the regular buses from the Al Ghanim bus station.
Alhazm is mostly frequented by local residents. Attitudes here may be conservative compared to other parts of Doha. When visiting the mall, make sure to dress modestly, which means not wearing shorts or short skirts. Visitors dressed inappropriately may be asked to leave.
