Lloyd Hotel Astoria Bayfront, an Ascend Collection Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"My husband and I love this hotel! From the first time we stayed here 4 years ago, it’s been an anniversary favorite! The breakfast is always fresh, they have beautiful amenities including fruit infused water, cookies, and a wonderful chowder every evening! Everyone we have come into contact with hélas been so kind and helpful! "
"Classy old dated hotel. Our room was lovely, bed was comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. We wanted to stay in one of Astoria's haunted hotels while staying out at the coast, and while we didn't get every spooky thing we hoped for, we did get a couple unexplained experiences. Would love to stay here again. Only complaint (minor) was that we did a lap around a couple blocks before finding out that it's street parking only for this hotel. Had no problem getting a good parking space once that was sorted however."
"Staff were friendly and efficient. Cookies were warm and delicious. Breakfast was standard. Room was clean and comfortable. Only concern was soundproofing between floors, as we were awakened to the guests upstairs walking around at 530am Saturday morning."
"When we checked in we were given a room and went up there. Both keycards worked great and we went in the room and there was someone elses stuff in there! Fortunately they weren't in the room otherwise that would have been TERRIBLE. We went back down to the front desk and the staff member was going up the elevator and said he would be right back. We waited about 15 minutes, this was at 4PM so right at check in time so there were 5 other parties behind us by the time he came back, and then he tried to blame the cleaning staff and said he would talk to them about it. I would have appreciated if he just apologized and owned it but lying to us and throwing someone else under the bus seemed like a very lousy thing to do. You could tell he knew he had messed up because every time we saw him he avoided looking at us and didn't talk to us.
Other than that the continental breakfast was really good and the rooftop is incredible.
The TV was at an angle because the cord was so short it had to be stretched that way and there were several channels that were "audio only" because their service was messed up.
Also when you get in the elevator the floor says "WONDERFUL BEDS" and that is not even remotely true. The beds were awful. My back usually hates all other beds but even my girlfriend couldn't sleep and was sore and she never gets that.
Overall the roof top and breakfast give it 2 stars but this experience was awful and I won't be back."
