"The hotel was very nice, clean, and well-maintained overall. Our only complaint was the housekeeping service. On our first full day, our room was not serviced at all, the beds weren’t made, we didn’t receive fresh towels, the trash wasn’t emptied, and nothing was cleaned. Since our room didn’t have a phone, I had to go down to the front desk to ask about it. "This hotel was like stepping into the past! It at one time was VERY GRAND and currently is now located in a very depressed area of Topeka. The State Capitol! It was very sad and depressing to see the current situation of this hotel. The breakfast buffet in the morning inside the atrium was lovely and attended by staff. No problems encountered except sadness for the current condition of this area likely due to economics."

"I just needed a simple place to stop and get some sleep, and this fit the bill. The registration staff were excellent—they were totally prepared for my arrival, and check-in was a breeze with zero issues. The bed was comfortable, and the AC was already cranking at a chilly 59 degrees when I walked in, which was great. A couple of minor things to note: there are no coffee makers in the rooms, and the corner shower felt a bit cramped. The parking lot could also use some better lighting. Overall,...

"My room was downgraded to a room with a tv that worked due to their new tvs in some rooms not being set up. I tried endlessly to get the room downgrade price difference refunded. Robert, the GM, continues to neglect calls and emails from Expedia (who I booked through). This hotel is in dire need of renovation (bath tub + ceiling had mold) and the front desk staff seem just as unhappy to be there."
