The Plaza de la Independencia (or Plaza Grande) is the bustling central square of the city of Merida, Mexico. The tree-filled plaza is lined with benches, making a great place to meet people. The square is bordered by colorful, colonial-style buildings, with the prominent, fortress-like Catedral de San Ildefonso on the northeast corner.
