The hotel’s location is excellent — close to everything and ideal for exploring the area. However, the room itself was disappointing. We had booked a balcony room, which turned out to be the best part of the stay. The balcony was a great size and made the experience better than it otherwise would have been.
The ceiling in both the bedroom and bathroom was extremely low — just above 6ft — making it uncomfortable to move around. We found it difficult to get dressed or even brush our hair without hitting the ceiling. The bathroom was poor quality, with a strange smell coming from the shower and noticeable black mould. The shower head wouldn’t stay up on the pole, so we had to hold it while showering, which was especially inconvenient in the cramped space. The air conditioning barely worked and made little difference to the room temperature.
On a positive note, the staff were fantastic — friendly, polite, and helpful. When we requested an iron, it was delivered within five minutes. Unfortunately, the iron tripped the electrics twice. The first time it happened, we were told no one could fix it until the morning, leaving us without power for a while. Thankfully, it resolved itself by the time we returned from dinner. It happened again on our last day, but we were checking out early, so it didn’t affect us.
