"I left my heart in Talalla Retreat. Incredible staff who were so welcoming and hard working, the Retreat itself is stunning. I had an upstairs bedroom so was able to fully enjoy the surroundings. The food was incredible. I felt super safe. I didn’t want to leave. A must visit - and please do as the Sri Lankan people need visitors right now. "

"This is the 3rd time that I am returning to Halcyon. It really is the best hotel on Mawella beach (and maybe even in whole of southern province :) The hotel is beautifully and tastefully decorated, the staff are super friendly, including owner Xander, it's absolutely right on the beach , the food is great. What more to say, it's a little peace of heaven :) "

"Overall stay was good. However, the bathrooms are visible inside the room. Not recommended for a family to stay inside the room. I kindly suggest to put up curtains or a blurred glass to have privacy. Also, the balconies are connected to each room with a sliding door which is kind of unnecessary i feel. "Very friendly family service. Great location for beach - 2-3 min walk. Lots of great restaurants around, especially on beach. Next to road, so easy to get tuktuk. Comprehensive convenience shop 4 min walk. Lovely pool with outdoor shower. A/C kept room at nice temperature, with ceiling fan. Family room had two double beds and we had a cot, so family of five well-suited. Room cleaned every 3 days.
