Property is clean, safe, and quiet . Staff is great! Property is about 15 minutes walk to restaurants in central panajachel, or you can tuk-tuk for only 5 quetzals to the restaurants' area or to the pier area.

Nice hotel with really clean floors, comfortable beds, and basic services. The owner is very helpful when you need it. Located on the quieter side of town, this hotel is about 1.5 miles from the Embarcadero for San Pedro and San Juan. Laundry services are available for a reasonable price. Breakfast is also available for various options.

The property was nice but there was no one at the front desk except during check-in so we couldn't get any help with tours or anything like that. Location is a bit out of the way but there are some local food options nearby Location

Hotel Sol is an excellent choice to stay when visiting the Panajachel area. Unlike many other places in the area, the building is secure, very clean, the rooms are big, the shower (hot and cold water) actually works, and the staff are attentive and helpful. Although the hotel is in the periphery of Panachel, for less than $1 (5 quetzales) you can hop into a tuck-tuck and go anywhere in Panajachel. I have stayed in several places in the area and Hotel Sol is my number one choice.

Great budget hotel

We really enjoyed staying here and the free bikes, free drinking water and large kitchen were all welcome bonuses. The owner was also very friendly and helpful and spoke good English.

The hotel manager is one of the kindest persons I have met in the hotel industry. He has service with a smile. Good breakfasts for a reasonable price and excellent cleanliness in the room. Also, very quiet except for an occasional dog barking at night. If looking for a hotel away from the noise of Pana this is the place.

Nice hotel. A little off the main streets. About a 10-15 mi. Walk to all the bars/restaurants. Staff very friendly. Available parking on site. Rooms were simple yet decent. Overall pleased stay for just one night.

Établissement propre et agréable. Tenu par une sympathique et serviable famille japonaise, visiblement adepte de puzzles qui décorent les murs de tout l’hôtel. C’était cocasse d’en avoir un du Port de St Tropez dans notre chambre. Petit jardin fréquenté par les 2 lapins de la famille. On peut dîner de qq plats japonais servis en chambre. L’hôtel est situé à 10mn des plages du bord de lac et 15 du centre ville. Je recommande.

Very nice

The hotel is very nice (for the price, of course), and I would definitely stay there again if I were to go back to Panajachel. The location is a little bit less convenient since it's somewhat outside of the central area, and so at night one needs to take a tuk tuk to get to the hotel, but otherwise everything is good.

Fast and easy check in with exact quote from online booking and the owner even helped us carry our bags up. Clean, towels, best WIFI we had in Guatemala, hot water, drinking water available and even free coffee and tea! Outside of the downtown area (only short walk/ tuk tuk ride) so quiter. HIGHLY recommend!

I did not like that the owner charged a 10% surcharge if you used either MasterCard or Visa. I have been asked to pay 2 or 3 % on Asia but never 10%. It also states that there is a washing machine to use but when I asked to use it I was told that his wife would do my laundry and I would be charged for it. That is completely different than a small charge to use the washing machine. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious and clean. It turned out to be much farther from the main tourist area than I thought it would be.

Great place to stay in Panajachel

I'm really glad I stayed at Hotel El Sol. I have been to Panajachel several times, but always stayed on the main strip. I was looking for a different experience. Hotel El Sol is located in a neighborhood in Pana but outside of the touristy area. It was nice to get a look at traditional life as I would walk to and from activities. The hotel is located about a 20 minute walk away from the main strip (I'm a slow walker). Most of the time I would walk to where I was going and get a tuk tuk back to the hotel, which worked out fine (a tuk tuk ride is about $1). The room I had was spotless, cleaned daily, and very spacious. It is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in in Guatemala (this is my 8th trip here) and is a great price. I HIGHLY recommend HOTEL EL SOL for anyone staying in Panajachel.

Nice hotel and big rooms!!

Pretty good experience although my girlfriend was sick. The owner was very friendly and easily adjusted our reservation with no additional costs! Amazing!! Furthermore the room was big enough en WiFi stable enough during our stay. Thanks again.

Great Place to Stay - a little far from everything

My husband and I spent a few nights at the Hotel El Sol. It was very nice and had a very clean bathroom and hot water in the shower, which is rare at places around Lake Atitlan. The hotel is about half an hour walk from the the lake, restaraunts and shopping district.
