"Vijay and Emma are newer owners of this hidden gem. The entire property has been upgraded. Immaculate, fresh bed linens and towels, washcloths etc. Also, my room had a refrigerator which I did not anticipate. That was definitely a plus!"

"I was thrilled with the location. Very short walk into town, and had plenty of parking. Checking in was a breeze by just using codes to the doors. My first impression walking into the building was that it smelled VERY clean. My room was spotless, bright and charming. I stayed in Room #8, and it was the perfect size for a single or a couple. The ONLY thing I wish it had was a blow dryer, but that is a VERY minor mark. 5 stars all around, and will stay here again!"

"The historic Inn is beautifully maintained and updated and provides a unique experience of staying in a home dating back to the 1600's. Breakfast was delicious and Megan the cook was welcoming and helpful. We always stay at the Black Walnut Inn when in Amherst!"

"It is a very, very nice hotel right on the UMass Amherst campus. Lovely setting and service. I would stay again. The only problem I had was we could not access the gym in the weekend."

"Charming and clean with helpful people who checked in before we got there to get to make sure we knew how things worked with checking in and keys and such. It’s dated, but it appears as if they’ve renovated and cleaned things up to look and feel beautiful as well and be functional."

"The continental breakfast was good - a variety of fresh baked goods, yogurts, fresh fruits, granola, teas, and the coffee was excellent! It would have been nice to enjoy a hot breakfast on the cold and gloomy morning that we were there, though. We enjoyed meeting our friendly host, Joe, and had a nice conversation with him as he explained the history of the property and some future kitchen renovations he has in the works. Parking was no problem - plenty of space, well-lit, felt absloutely...

"My favorite place to stay in Amherst! You’re right on the village Green, a few blocks from the Dickinson Homestead, top-notch restaurant on site, wonderful Staff, great shower, comfy beds. We spent the evening chatting and reading by the fire in the communal living room. 10 out of 10."

"We stayed just one night for a wedding nearby. Overall it was good. Easy check in, front desk guy was super nice. Its just a little dated decor wise."

"The place was dirty with stained carpets. The room had poor lighting, no closet, no place to set your bags down, and smelled like pot. They did have coffee and hot water for tea in the lobby."

It was a beautiful historic site, and the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff were as expected from the other reviews of the property. I was traveling with my daughter who has celiac disease, and the Inn was able to provide her with a lovely GF option for breakfast that was as delightful as the rest of the offerings. True GF options while traveling are limited, so this experience was a gem."
