"No flexibility despite airline cancellations I had a one-night booking at the Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport on 11 April 2026 via Expedia. My entire trip was cancelled after the US–Israel conflict in Iran led to widespread Middle East airspace closures, including Qatar, which disrupted international flights and made travel impossible. (9News) I requested a cancellation waiver through Expedia and also contacted the hotel directly, but the hotel referred me back to Expedia, and no exception was granted. All other bookings on my itinerary were refunded under the same circumstances. While I understand the rate was non-refundable, the lack of flexibility or coordination between the hotel and Expedia meant there was no practical way to resolve the situation. Travellers booking through third parties should be aware that exceptions may not be granted even when travel becomes impossible due to external events."

"*Great Location, But a Bit of a Mixed Experience Overall* We booked this place through Expedia when it was still listed as a 3-star stay. Right before the trip, though, we noticed it had dropped to 1 star, which definitely made us a bit uneasy going in. We also had a frustrating experience trying to contact the owners beforehand as we needed something for a visa application. Someone initially said they’d help, but after a few weeks of waiting, nothing came of it. Arrival & Check-in: We arrived late morning, thinking we’d at least be able to drop our bags, especially since it was absolutely boiling that day. But we later realised, buried in the small print, that reception doesn’t even open until 3pm. So we couldn’t check in, couldn’t leave luggage, and couldn’t get hold of anyone, which meant hanging around in the heat from about 12pm to 3pm. Not a great start. When we came back at 3, we still had to wait about 15 minutes in what felt like a slightly makeshift reception area inside a residential building. The staff member who eventually showed up wasn’t particularly welcoming, didn’t apologise, and spoke very little English, which made things a bit awkward straight away. We were also asked to pay a €50 city tax on arrival, which we had assumed had already been included. The Room: The biggest disappointment was the size. It just didn’t match the photos at all. We were expecting something closer to a suite, but what we got was a very small double room with a tiny bathroom"

"No bar, just one staff member and not family friendly. The place was old and smelled old. Dont recommend at all. Overall terrible place to stay. The vibe was just off, the area also seemed unsafe, sketchy people on the sidewalks, not close to anything. Would not return to this place, me and my friend had to book another stay that same night since we felt uncomfortable staying at this place. Save your money and dont stay here."

"You must sign up for shuttle to metro station only 8 slots per trip it will put u close the the vatican or you will have to cab or Uber it and nothing before 830qm also showers are super small no drawers for clothes so you can hang a few items other than that you are out of suitcase staff was extremely nice and helpful with the exception of one individual and they give you a complimentary drink on day of arrival but only specific drinks not anything you want from the bar"
