We stayed at The Literary Man during our 2 week honeymoon in Portugal. It was such a unique and fun place to stay. The decor and books everywhere just added to the experience. With it right outside the walls of Obidos, it give you very quick access to everything g that Obidos has to offer plus it was away from the crowds. The staff were amazing and so helpful! The restaurant had great food and drinks! We would stay there again, without a doubt.

This is a convert old property, it is very unique and the walls are basically bookcases with a lot of books. The only issue we have is that there is no elevator since this is a very old house and we have to carry our heavy luggage up to the second floor. The breakfast was good. You go to Obidos to see old historical stuff and this place gives you the vibes of it. This place is located right outside the castle wall, and we had problem finding parking near the property.

Charming hotel filled to the brim with books. I only stayed for 1 night (as Obidos is quite small) but wished I had stayed for longer just because of this hotel. I arrived at 11am and was pleasantly surprised to be told my room was ready, so I could check in early - great start! The room was large with separate living space, 2 bathrooms and a small outside terrace. The receptionist was friendly and she organised a restaurant booking for me at the hotel’s Book and Cook (also lovely). She also informed me of the hotel’s new secret garden, which was a lovely sun trap in the evening with a glass of wine. Finally, I was unable to stay for the breakfast due to catching an early bus from nearby Caldas da Rainha to Porto (Ubers also serve this hotel thankfully!), but the staff insisted on organising a packed lunch box for me to take away on my travels which was very kind of them to keep offering. The hotel is just outside the Obidos wall and well located to access everything you need to explore this town. I would go back to Obidos just for this hotel alone!
