"Novotel don’t have power outlets by the bedside - very strange. Hence the refurbishment ongoing in some of their hotels. Bring an extension cord or be prepared to power your phone up at the other end of the room."

"This hotel is in a brilliant location. After reading some bad reviews I was worried but I needn’t have been. The hotel was full of character. We had a superior castle view room which was lovely. A little bit tired maybe. The windows could do with some attention but it was big and the bathroom was clean and everything worked. Plenty of hot water and plenty of towels. The bed was big and very comfortable. Tea & coffee and kettle in the room and even an air cooler which was very useful during the heatwave ! We didn’t have breakfast so cannot comment. The staff were all lovely,polite & helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Harte & Garter and would definitely stay there again."

"Couldn’t fault the room I stayed in , however a family member also stayed and she didn’t have a/c in her room and was given a fan , apparently not all the rooms have a/c. On check out , there was only one man on reception and it took 40 mins to check out. My refund still hasn’t gone back onto my card for the £50 holding fee, waiting 2 weeks after. Bar staff were very slow and didn’t seem to know what was going on and also ran out of paper in the machine multiple times which caused further delays."

"Found it very strange only one towel left in bathroom for two adults on a three night stay (extra towels provided when asked) Rooms are very small (expected at an easy hotel) but really not a fan as someone who values privacy of bathrooms with glass doors and no locks. If someone needs to go during the night and turns the light on in they disturbs other guests sleep. The air conditioning was a blessing in the heat and the fact that it was set to turn on and off automatically was great in the heat wave"
