"We really enjoyed our stay at KK. The place is truly beautiful and tastefully decorated. The restaurant is good with a varied menu. However, I would not recommend the KK Plantation Suite – Garden room, as it lacks privacy."

"We loved our stay at The Sandhya. From the wonderful breakfasts, the perfect location on the beach and the cozy feeling of the lounge areas and rooms. Don’t miss out on surfing either."

"Stylish, peaceful and perfectly located for exploring the south coast. We think Ahangama is the best town for a mix of relaxation and great dining options. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the breakfasts were a real highlight. A lovely boutique stay... would happily return."

"Great hotel in a fantastic location in nature but not far from the beaches. The view is amazing and palm trees with monkeys jumping around is just beautiful.
The infinity pool offers nice views and and the hotel area is small.
The food was excellent. The chef was very helpful in finding gluten free options and the food was delicious. Highly recommend a stop at this place. "

"We had a great 3-night stay at Coast 67. The most stunning setting, overlooking the sea and the fairly private beach (there are only a handful of hotels that have access to this beach, so there are no local sellers or other tourists). Being able to walk from the pool, to the sunbeds, to the sand and the sea in just a couple of minutes is bliss.
The food was delicious, plus the dining staff were really friendly and warm. The breakfasts are healthy (albeit western focused, rather than sri Lankan), and the lunches tasty too. Reasonably well priced for a hotel.
Also, would HIGHLY recommend walking to local cooperative Cafe Veda for dinner - 2000 rupees (£5) for an authentic dinner with friendly staff and calming atmosphere. We went twice in our 3 night stay.
The hotel was always very clean, but there are a couple of teething issues: cleaning is every 2 days (which isn't a problem, but worth considering) and there were a couple of power outages (only a few minutes, so no problem either) and the showers stopped working one afternoon/evening.
Plus, there are construction works on the road and at the next door beach club, so lots of noise during the day (November 2025). It wasn't a bother though, as the sounds of the ocean are beautiful - especially at night."
South Point Cottage - Whole Villa 3 Bedrooms (Sleeps 6)
10/10 Excellent
"We had originally booked South Point Cottage but didn’t end up staying there – the owner has a few properties and we were placed at South Point Abbey instead. The Abbey is a gorgeous old colonial villa right on the ocean, with four big bedrooms that could easily fit two families. The walls are built from coral stone, there’s a lovely pool, and you have direct access straight onto the beach.
The staff were fantastic – they took care of everything and cooked the most amazing Sri Lankan breakfasts, plus some western dishes for the kids which they loved. The whole place felt calm, spacious and very serene.
A special mention to the manager, Gamini – such a kind and gentle man who gave us great tips on what to see and do nearby. We’d definitely recommend this beautiful spot to anyone looking for a relaxing stay."
"Perfect stay. Lovely property. Very comfortable and relaxing. Worth staying outside the busy main street of Ahangama. Excellent breakfast, very generous. "
"It was my girlfriend’s first time visiting Sri Lanka and Ahangama was the first place we had been on the coast since she got here. Because of this we decided to spend a bit more on a hotel for a bit of a nicer stay. However what we got from a Timeless Villa was not this. We had various basic amenities missing from our room, for example we had no hand towels and we also did not get a kettle so had to ask staff to get us one from another room. We also only had one plug point where the kettle was supposed to go so we had to unplug the fridge in order to boil the kettle. But this was just the start of our terrible experience. At breakfast I asked for an extra slice of bread and they said I would be charged for this! I think that fact alone is outrageous considering how much we were paying. We had already stayed at various hotels in Sri Lanka at this point and they were all much better in terms of both service and comfort. We paid a lot less for a lot more basically. The view, pool and convenience of the beach being there is the only thing that kept us there. We booked for 3 nights but actually wanted to leave after the first. But we didn’t want to deal with all the hassle that would involve and potentially loose out on money as we had pre paid. We did also mention our grievances to a member of staff but they were only new so we didn’t want to take it out on them. However I think they could have raised it to their managers and I think we could’ve had been compensated a bit better."
