"It was an excellent place to stay. The bed was warm and comfortable. All the amenities included an A/C, heater, safe, etc. Incredible South African hospitality. Great breakfast in the morning with incredible tasting Omelette made to your preference.
The property is nice, with a beautiful garden. Did I mention the great hospitality?
They are the best host of people. Cudos to the Owner, Chris, and the manager, Allison.
My stay at Highgrove made the trip to South Africa more enjoyable. "

"I have stayed here many times and the staff are always so polite and helpful. Unfortunately the room this time was on the side of the motorway and was quite noisy but all the other times I have stayed the rooms were lovely and quiet."

"Kitchen very slow, waited more than an hour for hamburger, next night over an hour aswell for steak that was tough.
Breakfast way too slow, standing in queues evert morning.

"We enjoyed the property and facilities but had to check out after 2 days because the water was shut off by the municipality. This was no fault of the property management and they actually prepared for the situation by filling the bath tub with water. This however did not work for us because it was inconvenient to shower , wash and flush the toilet among other things with the same standing water.
Staff were helpful, friendly and very accommodating."

"We booked this place and were casually told that they had another family in the unit and so they were overbooked. All this happened last minute. If you choose to book this property, be aware that you can get bumped last minute and find yourself looking for another hotel in a foreign country. "

"Checking was at 14h00 and only they gave us the key after 15h00. The place wasnt clean, mayonase in the oven, bathrooms dirty and the towels were still drying in the dryer. No soap or shampoo to bath. The place had a bad odour. Vomit in the passage outside the apartment without cleaning. We expected way more as it was supposed to be a presidential suite and penthouse, but we stayed on the 12 floor and there were 14 floors. What we paid for is not what we got. Im sorry but we wont recommend this...

"Southern Sun is my hotel of choice whenever I travel to South Africa and have enjoyed my stays always. However on my last stay in Johannesburg, my room had no complimentary water for a person checking in tired at night and they were not answering their room service phone, I had to beg for water in the morning. Secondly, I think it’s high time the 90’s TVs get upgrades because it’s hard to engage with entertainment for a luxury hotel. Other than that, breakfast is stellar."
