Mormon Lake

This location will always hold a piece of my heart, it's a little known spot found driving the forest service roads in the Coconino National Forest out near Flagstaff, AZ.

From this location you can see all the way out to Sedona. There is BLM camping in the area and my favorite campsite isn't far from where this photo was taken.

I've recently moved away from the Southwest, but this view will ever tug at my heartstrings... I already can't wait to go back!

One of our favorite ways to explore on a budget is driving down forest service roads. Some of them lead nowhere, and others of them lead to dramatic scenic locations like this...

This secret little spot is one we'd heard of but didn't have directions to out in the Coconino National Forest or near Flagstaff, AZ. We knew the general direction of this location but had no idea how to get there. We spent an afternoon exploring the area and eventually stumbled upon it. It is such a breathtaking view that we have returned countless times since.

The red rocks out in the distance are the beautiful city of Sedona, more than an hour away...
