"Amazing, quite unique, hotel floating in the middle of a lake with snow capped mountains in the backdrop, picture perfect. BUT that's it. There's really nothing else to do here, as you rely on food SOLEly provided by the hotel and there's no other external sources for food being so remote and the portions are small so pack some snacks, instant noodles. Aims for some fine dining vibe, but the quality is sub-par, may be due to meals being included in the price. The food alone would convince you...

"We read the reviews and were intrigued. We stayed in winter, and it is cold in Bothwell. It would have been much more inviting if the hosts had the heater running prior to our arrival, but once the property warmed up after a few minutes the shock of how cold it was faded away. We stayed in the 1837 cottage. The accommodation is rustic, eclectically furnished and decorated, and gives an appreciation of life in times gone by. If you are after elegant, refined and well finished accommodation...

"The Empire Hotel Queenstown oozes character and charm. Our room was simple but clean with lovely linen and the beds were very comfortable. Our check in at the front bar was easy and the staff were very friendly. Pub food was nicely done and it was a fantastic location straight across the road from the Wilderness Railway station in Queenstown. Lovely old town with friendly locals."
