We were concerned about making a reservation at the Dukeries Lodge Hotel since it was closed for renovations. We were worried that the renovations wouldn’t be completed in time for our trip. Well, the renovations were complete. In fact every inch of the property looked and smelled new. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. We would highly recommend this hotel. Both the room and the included breakfast were fantastic. Also, the parking is great and the Chinese takeout restaurant across the street is great.

Phone call notifying us that booking was cancelled when I was 45 mins away from arriving ( after a 6 hr journey. Cue trying to organise another hotel in the area for my entire family at short notice. Hotels.com blame the owner , owner blames Hotels.com but someone took the money on Thursday despite place being closed for refurbishment. Would use either company again!

Great stay

A lovely hotel friendly staff would recommend a stay here, we only stayed overnight as was a great location for us going the festival the following day

Closed hotel taking payments for booking.

Arrived at hotel to find it was closed for refurbishment and had been for at least a month. Had paid in advance and received no notification of closure. Absolutely shocking service and caused severe disruption to our planned arrangements.

Comfy,warm and good value

Although the first impressions and welcome where not ideal,I must say the lodge is in a great location,the room was comfy,warm and ideal. Special mention to the lady doing breakfast,very friendly, welcoming,and breakfast was fresh,hot and enjoyable

Staff are very friendly, but our room was absolutely filthy, there was cobwebs hanging like decorations, holes in the ceiling, patched up with black gaffer tape, the smell from flushing the toilet or turning the taps on was disgusting, the noise from outside was awful as it’s only a single glazed window, dirty marks on the walls, the room had so much dust in it, that when waking up my phone was covered in dust, so I hate to think how much dust I breathed in! This morning going for breakfast, it was like being in an exam with complete silence, tea & coffee was a hot water jug with a sachet, bearing in mind the bar was just across the room, but obviously no proper facilities, the breakfast was awful, the toast was a like a hard piece of cardboard, the toilets in the restaurant didn’t have proper locking doors. This place really needs an update and quickly if it wants to continue business, the only good side to this hotel is Sherwood Forest is literally a 7 minute walk from it, and you can get a decent coffee in the forest!

Staff were faultless, they could not do enough. Inclusive breakfast was really good Decor bit dated. I did hear they are due for. refurbishment, With that I mind I look forward to staying here again.

My room was small seemed to remind me of a toilet in its previous life but was comfortable but cold even though the hallways was sweating hot.

Nice room for really budget price with nice free breakfast thrown in. Big car par was quiet at night - no traffic. Pub has restaurant downstairs with usual pub classic foods at reasonable prices.

I stayed here on business - a good experience, though it felt a little like stepping back in time. Staff were excellent, food OK (good breakfast, though it took a while to come as one lady seemed to be doing everything, and several tables arrived at the same time (worth waiting for)) Stayed in a single room - interesting key position one the door - soft bed, no towels rail, open the window and you're right over the staff smoking/ chatting entrance - small TV, and no light over the desk, making working uncomfortable. I'd stay again, if for no other reason than it was a really welcoming place. I guess it'd be a good place for anyone exploring Sherwood??
