The location is terrific, the rooms are clean, the staff is polite and helpful. The breakfast is decent. But, internet connectivity is bad, didn’t work at all for me for 2 days when they changed my room. The bathroom is badly designed, floods the whole toilet.

Service at breakfast buffet was nom existent - breakfast was not ready at 7 am - no service culture at the breakfast buffet side - rest of the housekeeping and front desk service was good - left the hotel without having a Tea - don't think will stay again here -

Think again if you must
First time staying here staff is excellent always helpful,however their property needs a serious upgrade.
Things that i love
1)rain shower head
2)a/c room
3)welcoming staff
4)close to everything

1) when showering even with a curtain and a long piece of marble that separates washroom and shower water gets everywhere(curtain small)
2) 2 pillow covers dirty
3) asked for king size bed and got two twins pushed together after asking where is the king size
4)mosquitoes in room
5)WIFI is slow and not worth it
6)no fridge
7)even after prepaying on hotel.com they asked for further payment and after arguing i paid and showed proof 15 mins after they apologized

Good place, but lot of scope for improvement
This was our second stay in this property.
Not happy about :(
- The check-in took more than 30 mins, even though everything was paid for well in advance, and the front desk did not have a clue how to handle the bookings made through Hotels.com
- The Wifi never worked in-spite of repeated complaints.
- The towels and other toiletries were provided after several requests.
- Only one lift was working had long wait times.
Happy about :)
- Great breakfast.
- Clean rooms and linens.
- Nice house keeping staff

Clean, practical hotel.
We arrived in Mangalore a couple days before our friend's wedding, after other plans got messed up, so the Saffron was a late night, last minute booking. The hotel was very clean, breakfast was pretty good and there is a nice view from the rooftop. Good walking location to the City Centre mall, and not too far of a rickshaw ride to the beach.

Stay was good. But we had asked for an auto for dropping us at railway station in the early hours,and they had agreed. But in the morning they told us that the auto came and gone and we were forced to call a taxi and go to the railway station.I felt the front office staff should have been more helpful. I am disappointed due to this.

Good boutique stay in the center of the city
Check out took a little longer than expected. Looks like the reservation and payment details were not easily accessible on their system. As always, have your reservation confirmation details printed out for most hotels in India.

saffron- not worth for money
1. No proper parking.
2. Very poor room service.
3. No proper response and not at all a customer friendly.
4. No proper maintenance and not worth for money. 3.7 k per night is waste of money for the facilities provided.
5. Veg restaurant is not well maintained.
6. Buffet breakfast was good.
7. Overall stay was not satisfactory.

Comfortable Hotel in the middle of City Market
When we arrived to check in, the hotel reception informed us that they had not received any confirmation mail from Expedia regarding our booking. However owing to the Confirmation mail, after about an hour's time they finally arranged a room for us and told us that they expected Expedia to send a mail or else we would have to settle the bill there and then claim the refund from the website. Thankfully they received the mail by late evening and all was well.
Room was on the first floor, there is not much to see outside the window but the room was very clean and quite spacious. Its located on a very busy road so parking can be a challenge. The restaurant attached to it serves tasty veg food. The complimentary breakfast was nothing to write home about.
It can get a bit crowded in the reception area when they arrange events in the mezzanine banquet hall

One night stay..not to repeat
We stayed at the Saffron for a night in September end 2014. The stay wasn't that great compared to the tariff the hotel charges. The only positive was the fact that the hotel location.The negatives were many...damp rooms, unresponsive room service, even after complaining about AC at the front desk no action was taken. The rooftop restaurant should be avoided as the food is really average compared to what the prices are.
