We chose this location as we knew it would be a bit quirky, and it definitely delivered on this. The check in time was chaotic, with only one person and a short time period to arrive, lots of campers without reservations were queueing up to be booked in.
Our motel unit had all the amenities we needed, with a full kitchen. The shower was hot, with good water pressure, all good as long as you aren't too tall.
The decor was a slice of the Swiss Alps :-)
We could park right outside our unit and it had an awesome view of the lake and mountains from the living area.
There was no road noise at night, and the location was very convenient for an early morning trip to Doubtful Sound.
While the surfaces e.g. kitchen and bathroom in the unit were clean, there was a lot of dust and grime behind furniture, on skirting boards etc. - suggest that these are in need of a deep clean.
Washing machines (x2) and dryers (x2) were at the main utilities area; because it was around teatime and people were using microwaves etc. in the same block, the power cut out and we needed to find a staff member to reset the breaker/fuse. You need $2 coins for these - available from reception during check in time.
