Location was great for those that are comfortable walking around town. The apartment was spacious and a great base for us in Avignon. There are many dining and market options nearby. Hosts were great and easy to contact if needed. The only thing to be aware of is that parking in the area is quite difficult (for much of old Avignon). When being dropped off by taxi we walked about 5 minutes to save a very slow drive in the city.

My sons and I stayed for one night at the hotel Charlemagne so we could experience the city and the food culture it provided. We enjoyed the air conditioning the hotel had to offer in the rooms AAA we happened to hit a warm spell at the time of our visit. The lobby is fine, the elevators smaller than one might expect at a 4 star hotel, but all in all the photos of the facility are fairly accurate. It is a nice place to stay for the money you pay.

This property is located right near a train and bus station with easy access to Vieux Lyon (old Lyon), there is a lot of restaurants and shops around the hotel as well. The hotel breakfast was also excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Lyon.

Great Hotel in splendid Lyon

The Hotel was fabulous, clean and easy to reach. We loved our room with a great view, a hot bath and a strong WIFI signal. Hotel staff were very helpful and courteous. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast was very complete, with everything you could want to eat. There were lots of common spaces in the building with different functions, that gave a resort feel to the hotel.

My wife and I went for 2 nights and had an excellent experience. The staff were very kind and helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable bed. It was minutes away from the train station Lyon Perrache, 10 min from the confluence and 40min walk to Old Lyon. Would definitely recommend.

A good spot in Lyon

While a little "worn around the edges", this hotel is very pleasant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Bed comfort is very good. We discovered a good bistro down the road - the midi-minuit - which actually closes at 10:30 (bizarre given the name). Looked at Georges bistro but was overcrowded and too noisy. If you arrive late, parking is free in the street.

Overall very good. Short walk to metro and tram stations. Friendly staff. A friend traveling with us left her iPad in her room after checkout. The staff retrieved it and we were able to get it a couple of hours later.

I did not like the area. While it’s certainly convenient if you need to take the train, the area feels unsafe at night and it is extremely dark, obscured. Almost like if the city lights were dimmed down. The facility is very good and the staff is amazingly friendly.
