"The staff at The Kontiki was VERY helpful when we needed transportation to the different off-site locations and to the airport. They were very knowledgeable about the excursions, also. There was a bus to take to us and bring us back from the local market, free of charge. There is so much to do on this resort. There are restaurants, shops, entertainment. The scenery is BEAUTIBUL!!. we do plan to return in the future!"

"Rooms very clean,, you have to be careful snacks knock your door twice if you dont answer they will open the door its better to put the do not disturb sign out of your door people is not the friendliest of the world they barely talk to you but overall great experience rooms are ok"

"The best thing about this property is not the man-made - the incredibly beautiful beach! The hotel itself doesn’t really match a 5-star standard. The food was also fairly basic and not tasty. And what is wrong with the interconnecting door in the room - you can hear your neighbors every breath and more…"

"The staff is unbelievable. We asked them the littlest of a hand cream, for a late checkout, a paper cup. Everything was done within minutes. Everyone is just so friendly and helpful. Renaissance itself is beautiful, clean. Every day was a very beautiful happy day. There are so many places to eat in walking distance and for shopping. Their private island is awesome. The boat ride is fun to get there."

"Overall, the property is well-maintained. Buffet has lots of international offerings, but the quality is ok. When booking restaurants on premises, the food portions are extremely small. Even with a party of 6, at the barbecue they served us one plate, that's all you could get. It came with one 1/4 piece of corn on the cob, 6 ribs. Requests for more were always acknowledged but never delivered. Lost hot water for several days in the rooms. Bartenders, hit or miss, some were very attentive when tipped, others were more interested in joking with each other, and often I or others were ignored. In one case, a couple sitting at the pool bar asked if they could get some service; they were told to get up and wait in line, then mocked by all the bartenders. Management was non-existent; it seemed most bars were managed by young adults who were more interested in serving locals on day passes than the full-paying guests. Suggest that a review of management practices, with more management on site to see guest experiences. Sad that none of the couples we traveled with will be back or recommend to others. This is a short list. If I owned this hotel, I would be horrified at what is happening."

"Very underwhelming. Limited restaurant selection that never said reservations required but by 730pm, they were full for the evening. This limited us to the buffet for dinner. Also, even though RIU owns two properties side by side you cannot visit the restaurants at the other resorts The entertainment at night was mediocre at best. What was labeled as a comedy show was just a game show. There was little humor in it. The beach and pool were clean but patrons reserved seats very early and were never removed after the two hour time limit even though it is clearly marked as being the rule. This led to limited good seating The staff was the best part. Always helpful and accommodating. This was pretty much the only part that exceeded expectations. "

"Nice hotel; however, very overpriced. We have stayed at several All-Inclusive resorts in Jamaica, Dominican Republic, etc. that were just as nice at a fraction of the price."

"Everyone was very nice and helpful. Area was always clean. We really loved how everything was accessible. Everything was walking distance, from our room, to the beach and to the restaurants what more can you ask. Although our room was located near the construction site, we didn't care for the noise because we were outside most of the time. Me and my husband really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely come back to this hotel. "
