This hotel needs new management. The breakfast room is too small and too crowded and the location of the food awkward and inconvenient. No one picked up plates. Some employees just standing around. No one seemed in charge of too many employees doing little or nothing. Asked twice for a latte coffee and had to get up and go get it. I could not control the A/C fan in the room - it was like a typhoon at any temperature setting. Called and no answer. The room (supposedly an upgrade) was small and no place to put more than one suitcase. Water not really hot. Had difficulty changing a 1,000 Peso Bill ($16 US) and they got me upset because I was sent to a couple of places (bar, restaurant) after the reservation desk didn't have any change - they just said sorry no change available as if they did not want to be bothered. Worst service of the 5 hotels we stayed in the Philippines and more expensive than the 5* hotel we had previously stayed in Cebu. I would not stay there again. Never had problem with the Mercure brand before but apparently Mercure just bought the hotel because they still show up on Google Map as Belmont. The small beach is several blocks away. Food at the bar where pool is took a very long time. Need to shape up and get new management in place.
