"The hotel's location could not be better. I especially liked how it is right near the river, along which we took pleasant walks every day. The room we stayed in was terrific. Spacious, well laid out, and quiet. The beds, and bedding, were very comfortable. Also loved the ofuro (deep soaking tub) in the room.
But, above all, the staff were simply marvelous. They were all kind, capable, and full of suggestions about what to do with our time in Kyoto. And they even continued to be helpful after we left Kyoto. Let me explain.
The day my wife and I left the US for Japan, we heard from our bank that they had detected fraud on our credit card and that they would have to issue us new credit cards. We arranged to have them sent to the Cross Hotel. But there were delays in the delivery of the cards. The staff kept us notified until they received the cards today (five days after we left Kyoto) and will post them to the address were we are staying in the Japan Alps.
The next time we're in Kyoto, we will be sure to stay at the Cross Hotel. I couldn't recommend it more highly."
