Fantastic stay at Hotel Shikisai Kyoto

Hotel Shikisai Kyoto was a great choice for our stay in Kyoto. Since we were staying 6 nights, we wanted a larger room and that’s what this hotel specializes in. Our room was like a suite and included a laundry machine. Used that machine to wash a small load every day. No money required. There were only 2 rooms per floor, so very quiet. Never even saw the other guests. Room was very clean and the staff serviced it everyday. You can opt out of service but it was great having the room refreshed everyday. Used the electric water kettle and the coffee packets every morning to steep coffee. There’s no restaurant on site but we wanted to experience local restaurants and knew we didn’t need that, plus we were out exploring Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara. The front desk is not manned from 10pm-8am but not an issue for us. Hotel is in a more residential area with super easy access and very short walk to Kurasuma Oike subway station each day. We loved the residential feel of the location. Several restaurants and convenience stores were within short walking distance. This hotel cost about $269 a night but it was well worth the money for the extra space, laundry machine, great location, and quiet rooms.
