"I had been looking forward to stay in this place for quite some time but my experience and expectations was so different. The atmosphere of the location is fantastic. The hotel is very old. Had a bad smell in the room which was so unpleasant and uncomfortable to breathe in. Not suitable for asthma and allergy sufferers. Air conditioner was not working properly. "We spent 5 nights at Sun Siyam and we had a wonderful time, including a fantastic Nee Year’s Eve party. The staff were fantastic and so friendly. They looked after our little boy like royalty! We spent time on the beach and round the pool. The food was excellent with plenty of choices including lots of amazing vegetable dishes. "Great view of the lake but a bit away from anywhere if you like to dine out. It was out of season so the in house menu options were limited and tourist focussed. Lovely breakfast and the room was great. "

"We felt instantly relaxed and welcomed upon arrival. The grounds and pool are beautiful. Room was spacious and immaculate, we loved the variety of loose leaf teas in our room and delicious homemade biscuits that were replenished. The staff were the most attentive in our whole time in Sri Lanka. Things like coming with umbrellas on arrival to our car so we didn’t get wet, guiding us with a light to and from the dining area to our room each night, speaking to us about our travels and offering to be of service anytime we needed to enjoy our stay. Food was good, particularly the Sri Lankan dishes. Wine cannot be bought by the glass but if you get a bottle they will keep for the next night if unfinished which is a nice touch. We had such a great time on the couple of tours that we booked through the hotel. Highly recommend this boutique to unwind from busy activities during the day, it has a lovely private and boutique atmosphere. We would stay again. "

"Fantastic location which is quite and peaceful location with wonderful mature trees. The service provided by Achini at the front office is well and beyond what was expected. She is a true asset to this hotel. If you want to see the elephants, this is a wonderful base for your safari."

"Warm, friendly staff - this hotel had a beautifully designed main building where we enjoyed al fresco eating from the varied and superbly cooked/arranged buffet. After dinner we enjoyed the ping pong and pool table which helped entertain our family. The swimming pool was sublime. The gardens, pathways and trees leading down to the beach were well kept and helped support a relaxing atmosphere. The bedrooms had everything we needed as well as incredibly comfortable beds - quiet, with the added bonus of a balcony. We loved our family holiday! The only thing we thought needed improving was the bar. It was not a relaxing place to sit and had uncomfortable chairs. If there had been a place to chill out comfortably with ambient music where we could purchase drinks and icecream - that would have been ideal. Hopefully, this could be incorporated into the rebuild of the beach bar. "
