"The hotel is in a good sea facing location and convenient for eating places, retail shops and walks along the seafront. The room is comfortable and the staff are polite.
If you’re looking to get some beach time and want to get into the water, this is not the place.
There is parking there free of charge. There is also a drinking water filling station at the reception which is great. You can borrow bikes too should you wish to ride along the seafront.
The not so good bit:
Breakfast:
While there is coffee in the room, there is no coffee in the breakfast area. Also, there is a basic cold breakfast with preserved items like prepackaged muffins and yoghurt and drinks from the fridge. There is no coffee at breakfast. You must have a coffee back in your room isn’t a great experience. We ended up trying this the first day and then stopped having b/f. The only other option is to walk to the retail park and grab a Starbucks there.
The mandatory resort fee:
The $35 per night resort fee is a rip off in my opinion. That is charged by the hotel on top of whatever you’ve paid for your room. I haven’t had any other hotel resort fee given that the only resort feel to is the pool and the bicycle that you can borrow. For me, this was a ripoff.
No lift/escalator:
You need to carry your bags to the room. Not great if you’re on 2nd floor
Cleaning:
The room is only cleaning if you request it the previous evening. Our request was messed up and we had the chase up the cleaning."
"We appreciated the staff during our stay—they were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the property itself was not what we expected based on the photos. The hotel appears quite dated and in need of significant maintenance.
There was a strong sewage odor near the pool area during our stay, which made spending time there unpleasant. The hotel was also undergoing extensive fumigation, and many hallway wall panels and trim pieces had been removed, giving parts of the property a partially renovated or unfinished appearance. At times, we were surprised the hotel was operating while this level of work was taking place.
Our room was comfortable and generally clean, but it also showed signs of wear consistent with the rest of the property. Overall, the staff were the highlight of our stay, but the condition of the hotel did not match our expectations or the photos we viewed before booking."
"Definitely an older hotel but the view, welcoming staff, and very well maintained grounds make it worth it. Very easy to walk to shops, restaurants, and numerous food carts. We just left and are already planning our next visit!"
"This property has no elevator for wheelchair and handicap people. No grab bars in bathtub. Lanai screen door does not lock properly ( need to be replace ). Sliding door toilet/bathtub bathroom not sturdy. But, overall rating 4 stars. The entire property is quite, maintained well, laid back for families. Yes, we would be back at this Kauai Beachboy Resort again. "
"The property and unit were great! We loved the pool and being across from Safeway! The full kitchen and patio table were great for breakfasts and dinners. The bbqs are immaculate! I honestly thought others don’t even use them but it’s actually that the staff keeps them so clean. You can’t really swim at the beach out front which isn’t the most ideal but we watched the sunrise from the beach every morning. The adirondack and sun chairs provided on the beach are great. The the location allows you to easily explore all the different areas of the island. Definitely recommend this property and location!"
"My wife and I stayed at Aston Islander on the Beach for our honeymoon, making this trip especially meaningful. While the location is excellent, several issues impacted our stay.
Upon arrival, we did not receive the advertised shell lei greeting and had to request it after seeing other guests receive one. We also booked an oceanfront room but were assigned a room that appeared to be ocean view, despite being told it qualified as oceanfront.
We experienced ongoing Wi-Fi and cable issues, inconsistent housekeeping, missed linen exchanges, and an in-room safe that repeatedly malfunctioned. Housekeeping services on May 16 and May 20 were only completed after contacting the front desk. While most staff were helpful, one employee spoke to us in a disrespectful manner regarding a towel exchange.
Although we appreciated the refund of four days of amenity fees, the room classification dispute, maintenance problems, and service shortcomings detracted from what should have been a special honeymoon experience."
