Travel to Kaminokawa

First stay in Japan! Very small room but worked with it. Decent bed. Clean. Good AC. Quiet. It is around the corner from so many shopping and dining options. Loved the feel of Ueno. Walkable to everything! Highly recommend if you need a place to stay thats walking distance to many places and has a very active nightlife.

My family had a wonderful 5 night stay at this truly phenomenal hotel. The Capitol Hotel Tokyu was 5 star in every way. Highlights included beautifully appointed rooms (spacious and stylish, great views, very comfortable beds and incredible shower) and exceptional buffet breakfast. The location is perfect in the centre of Tokyo with two subway stations located directly beneath the hotel - from here you can quickly access Ginza, Harajuku, Shabaka, Rappongi and Shinjuku all reasonably short train trips away. Above all, I want to compliment the service which was truly incredible. Every staff member went out of their way to be kind and helpful to us. For example, I lost my iPad on Shinkansen train and the concierge worked for several days to track it down and get it couriered back from Osaka! My son has special dietary needs helped find him some gluten free food for breakfast. A huge thank you to everyone at the Capitol for a sensational stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cleanliness, staff, close proximity to train stations and food places like Family Mart and Narku is a bonus. We were a family of 4 on the 2nd floor and it was a popular floor and if you search for it there’s a microwave, vending machine and ice machine on the floor. I wish I knew that sooner because that would have been very convenient in heating up food, getting drinks and ice. The staff did offer cute slippers for kids, toothbrushes, access to borrow umbrellas and a taxi service always out front of hotel! That taxi service is amazing because some days we planned on it and never had to wait. I’d definitely recommend this hotel. It is roughly 30 min drive and 45 min train ride from most popular places but it was nice to end your night away from the hustle and bustle.

It was very convenient to have a washer+dryer combo unit in the room. Breakfast was pretty decent and reasonably priced. Rooms were comfortable. They added a surcharge for our 12 year old son but gave him his own bed.

Great location, very clean, and most of the staff are super helpful and professional. However, we had a disappointing experience with one front desk employee — a man who mentioned he was born in a Western country and has lived in Tokyo for 23 years. He came across as rude and dismissive when we inquired about a room upgrade and late checkout, benefits we expected as Expedia Gold members. He told us, in a very blunt manner, that “whatever Expedia promised is between Expedia and the customer,” and that the hotel is not responsible for honoring it.
