Garden setting with a view.

Very nice place to stay. The yard and flowers were terrific. Nice setup for a comfortable stay. Had to drive down to town because it was on top of the ridge. It made for beautiful views of mountains.

Get there while you can!

Stunning views all round from this beautifully kept and spotlessly clean and comfortably furnished property. Its owners Lynne and John are keen for their guests to make the most of their time in Kaikoura. When they met us at the station they took us on a tour of the local area giving us lots of information on what we could see and do in the six days we were there. On our last day they drove us out to a seal colony which we would not have seen otherwise. Lynne and John like to get to know their guests over breakfast and their visitors book is full of compliments. Get there while you can though because they are off on their travels soon.

Excellent place to stay if you get the chance.

They weren’t supposed to be open but hotels.com showed them to be, we booked and I caught them as soon as they got home (very lucky) they didn’t have to but they put us up for the night. Very nice people, very nice house and excellent service (when they didn’t have to) thank you Austin Heights.

My stay at Austin Heights B&B was a lovely one. The owner met me in town to shuttle me from the train to the property. While my room was getting ready, I was still able to change up for an activity that afternoon and sit on the terrace, enjoying the gorgeous view of the mountains that surround Kaikoura. He arranged dinner for me at the Pier Hotel (a must) along with a pick-up from the property. It is a walk down the hill into town, so it's a great spot if you have a car or way to get back and forth quickly. The view, the friendly owners, and the big, comfortable room make the trek worth it. Since it's up on the bluff already, it's a short amble up to the lookout for a gorgeous (indescribably gorgeous) sunset. Breakfast was hearty and filling and shared with other guests, so it was wonderful to meet people from all over. Highly recommend a stay here if you love scenery, quiet surroundings, and wonderful hospitality!

Really nice BnB

Stayed here to see the Sperm Whale and was not disappointed. Great trip with Whalewatch and really worthwhile experience. The Kaikōura museum in the Council offices is also worth a visit especially the display devoted to the recent earthquake.

A real gem!

The B n B is an easy, short drive to the town centre so nice and quiet. We were welcomed by John and shown to our very clean and comfortable suite. They had drinks and milk in the fridge and tea and coffee on the bench. Breakfast great and John and Lynn were good company. Overall a top rate place.

Austin Heights B&B is a lovely place to stay. Our hosts made sure we had a lovely breakfast along with some other sweet items in our room which included cookies and cake. Kaikoura is now open for business and it is one of the nicest areas on the South Island to visit

Everything was above our expectations. The room was extremely comfortable, clean, with amazing views. John and Linley were the best hosts we ever met (and we travel a lot). They booked our cruise for wale watching, they booked the restaurant and they provided an wonderful breakfast every morning. I highly recommend this B&B.

Lovely B&B with and unbelievable view

Austin Heights is an excellent B&B to stay at, Mark and Lynn are excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable room with all amenities and an excellent breakfast.

Great B&B with convenient and quiet location

We spent two nights in Kaikoura. Our hosts were super helpful with dinner and Whale Watch reservations. The breakfasts were amazing and a great way to start the day. The Pennisula Walkway access is within walking distance and John carefully explained how to get there - complete with a picture of the stile. Lynn helped us with our laundry and we loved chatting with them and the other guests. Room on second floor had a beautiful view of the sea and town and we enjoyed being close but in a quiet neighborhood. Room was well appointed with comfy arm chairs, great bed, and nice kitchenette and complementary mini wine, milk and coffee. Highly recommend Austin Heights!! Thanks again John and Lynn.

Austin heights was just amazing. Our hosts were super friendly and very accommodating. They have been running bed and breakfast for many years and it shows. Definitely worth a return visit to Kaikoura.

Outstanding B & B

Outstanding B & B. Beautiful room and lovely view. Very friendly and gracious hosts. Room was spacious and tastefully decorated. A complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and beer was in the fridge. We had a separate en-suite bathroom across the hall. Bathroom was large, bright and airy. Ample parking available on site. On arrival we were given advice on touring the area and dining options. We chose The Pier Hotel and the hotel had a free pick up and drop off service. We enjoyed a good meal there. Breakfast both mornings was lovely, with the hosts in attendance. Breakfast was in their kitchen/dining room, with outstanding views over the bay and mountains. Lyn cooked a beautiful special breakfast, but we were offered any type of breakfast we would like. It was a memorable stay and the host made us feel at home. Highly recommended.

What a treat!

Austin Heights….what a treat! Upon arrival, my husband and I were greeted by the lovely owners John and Lynne. We stayed three nights in the Costal View Suite and it provided a great view of the picturesque mountains and bay! Every morning, John and Lynne provided a vast breakfast spread consisting of fruits, cereals, yogurt, eggs, bacon, coffee and wonderful conversation. After finding out that we were coming in from Picton via the long Kaikoura Inland Road, they were kind enough to make a dinner reservation for us at The Pier Hotel and also arranged for a pickup service. The room had dishes, utensils, coffee, tea, biscuits, chocolates, a refrigerator, an iron with board, and two complimentary beverages. Lynne also offers a laundry service which was an added bonus. We were in walking distance to the peninsula walkway and enjoyed the long walk among the seals. We highly recommend this B&B!

The room and the bath were seperate from each other and if we wanted to go from the room to the bath, we had to go by the appartment corrdior, it felt not like aprrivate unit. The Breakfast eating was also not feel like we have privacy because we eat in the owners kitchen, internet was limited ,they gave us a good hosptality ,but for what we expectd the price is too high

I have 2 pleasant nights as I stayed in Austin Height. Lynn and John are very nice and welcoming host. The breakfast was so lovely! And I will definitely stay again if i visit Kaikoura in future.
