The service was awful, with superficial smiles and no substance. Reception staff were friendly, but they didn't follow through on promises. They had us waiting for 2 hours for someone to address a lack of wifi in our room. When nobody turned up, a member of staff said that wifi was down in the whole hotel. It wasn't, it wasn't hard to check. When I addressed the issue with another member of staff, she acknowledged that there was no resolution because the corner rooms like ours often have a wifi problem. We are also disappointed that a deposit was taken from our card on arrival and was processed as a payment. When we paid for incidentals on a different card, we were told the deposit refund could take 2 weeks. However, our bank tells us that a refund to that card isn't practically possible. Now we have to wait 2 weeks before we can address this issue further. Smaller issues with the hotel were the dark rooms and shared spaces. Another issue was that serving staff at breakfast couldn't be less joyful. It was glum and gloomy. Finally, I left an inexpensive ring on the room dressing table, which went missing. I should have put it in the safe but I figured in a high calibre hotel, staff would be trustworthy. When I mentioned the missing ring at Reception, they showed me a picture of the dressing table before and after the ring went missing. It frankly confirmed that the ring was there and then it wasn't. But it didn't clarify who took it. Incredibly disappointing experience.
