Really lovely stay, 1 block from the Plaza de Armas and around the corner from the start of the Malecon. Staff were very friendly, breakfast was nice and room was very clean.
Good location. Easy walk to main square, riverfront and restaurants. Groceries and convenience stores near by. Staff was excellent. Helpful in planning trips or meeting other needs. Very friendly. Breakfast, made fresh and is filling and good quality.
Everything was ok. They hired a taxi for me before my arrival. I had some conflicting schedules with my stay in the avatar lodge(another excellent option in Iquitos) and the management very quickly moved my stay the way I can enjoy the jungle. The room was clean and the free breakfast was ok. It's one small block from the cathedral square ( main). A reconstruction is going on the street in front of the hostel so cars are not allowed to go to the hotel but they can leave you on the streets near. The walk is short. My taxi driver helped me with the luggage. The free WiFi was also good.
This three-star hotel has a fabulous location. It is right around the corner from the best part of the malecón, the pathway running right along the edge of town with beautiful views out to the lagoon and river area. It’s right where there are three restaurants and a bar. It’s also just a block from Plaza de Armas, so it’s convenient for catching all kinds of transportation if you want to head out to the port or whatever. I had an inside room because I sleep better with them and it was cleaned and scrubbed really well every morning. The included hot breakfast was fresh and excellent. Bianca at the counter was especially helpful (and spoke very good English) and the gentleman in the evening was especially kind. There was no hot water when I was there because of the street construction that it been going on for six months and will be going on for probably another year so the owner was nice enough to gave me a partial refund (Note that there are no hotels or gyms around where you can pay a day pass of some kind to have access to hot showers, but it is so hot and humid there is that even though I would’ve liked a little warm water it wasn’t terrible and was was mostly refreshing.) The only drawbacks beside the water was the TV signal was not very good and the Internet is very slow and hit and miss. I ended up going down to the virtual library, where it was excellent. I don’t think this problem is unique to this hotel, but is common in the area.
The gentleman at the front desk was great. I’m American and don’t speak Spanish and the front desk man didn’t speak English. He was very patient with me and gave me good suggestions (via translator app) on food and activities. The food in the morning was great also.
A great place to stay in Iquitos. Ideally located for restaurants and.walking distance to Belen and the main square. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I would highly recommend staying here.
The staff are very friendly and efficient. Check-in was really quick. The location is good. Walking distance to restaurants and the water front. I would definitely stay here again.
This was the best place we stayed in Peru over the course of two weeks. Check in was easy and quick. Our room had a giant king size bed that was comfortable. The air conditioning worked great, and the TV had many channels to choose from (if you need a little TV break once in awhile). The bathroom was clean and the water pressure and temperature were good. Breakfast was offered in the morning, but unfortunately we had to leave before we could enjoy it. The staff that we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The location is very close to the riverfront and the Plaza de Armas, with plenty of restaurants to choose from. We actually recommended this place to a few other travelers we met who were on their way to Iquitos.
I only have two minor complaints. The shuttle service from the airport was included, which is great, but I never got confirmation that someone would be there to pick us up, and I messaged twice. A random guy ended up finding us and maybe calling the driver (not sure) but then wanted a tip. Not sure if he was associated with the hotel, but he did have my name. It was a confusing situation and would have been helpful if the driver was waiting, or if we had been confirmed with. Second, the wifi is a bit weak, but hey...you're in Peru...get out and enjoy it instead of internetting!
Overall, would stay here again without hesitation!
This is the perfect place to stay in Iquitos! The staff are some of the friendliest people I have ever encountered in my travels; the air conditioning works perfectly; the hot water and internet are great; the cafe breakfast is excellent; and the hotel is brand new and centrally located. I love staying at Hostal Macambo!
Clean rooms. Great location, clode to the restaurants by the water and the main plaza. Mostly english speaking staff. Bad water pressure in the shower, and the water was salty?? Breakfast was eggs and toast.
This was a nice place to stay after returning from the jungle. The staff is very nice! Airport transfer was included. There was a small tankless hot water heater in our room. Bed was comfy and the onsite restaurant is pretty good. There is a convenience store right next door if you want to grab some brews. Close to the Plaza de Armas.
Excellent place to stay, clean, spacious room, breakfast was awesome and the staff went out of their way to accommodate my needs , above and beyond my expectations.
En general muy buen servicio, personal muy amable y atento, lugar limpio y céntrico . Vale mencionar el desayuno rico y variado. Cumple muy bien lo que uno busca para estar tranquilo en un viaje, lo recomendaré .
We stayed at Hostal Macambo for 2 nights after spending 5 days in the Amazon jungle. The staff were friendly and helpful. They gave us a late checkout till 6pm then drove us to the airport. The room was quiet, clean and had good air-conditioning. Breakfast was delicious juice, coffee, eggs and toast. Wifi was good most of the time. Would happily stay there again.
