  • I would not usually consider a garden a must-see experience, but I am really glad a local told us to visit Hamilton Gardens. The experience of wandering through a maze of hedges that open into perfectly cultivated gardens plucked complete from other countries and other eras was quite possibly the closest I will ever come to feeling like Alice in Wonderland come to life. You never know what magical sight waits around the next bend in the path.

NO SPA - disappointed

there was no spa bath when the room i booked CLEARLY said spa bath. had to wait in the cold for 20 minutes because the online booking didn’t say a closing time for reception!!!

The pillows had stains all over them , hadnt been washed and sheets were dirty. The bedspread had white stains on it. The motel room was freezing as allthe windows were open on the coldest day of the month.

The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep in. The bedding was dirty, had stains on it. The cup in the cupboard was dirty, the towel rail in the bathroom was broken and remnants of it was on the floor under the basin. The dining table only had one chair. And it was $170 a night. Could say more but time to get on with the holiday! Will never return!

Firstly the room was not ready when i arrived at 2.45pm but should have been available from 2. It was well sized not not really what I booked and had fridge jug etc. But that is where the positives it ends. The spa bath (which was supposed to be private hot tub) had a bit missing I was scared the water would leak into electrical bits so couldnt fill it to high. Next the milk was frozen in the little pottles. Thirdly didn't really effect me but if two people stayed in the room there was no plug available to plug light or eletric blanket into on one side of the bed. Ths staff member was not that great with conflict both with me or others reporting issues with their rooms.

Parking Wasn’t To great I couldn’t find a Car Park when I got Back from night out every single Park was Taken . So I had to park Under the Entrance shelter . Other then That everything Was Find ,$160 is a knit much for a Tiny Room and No actual allocated Parking so they could defs Work on that .

Property was cold, couldn’t turn up the heat pump. no electric blanket on the bed - this is the Waikato in winter ! Had a power cut in the morning mid way through shower. Asian manager hard to communicate with. Rowdy noisy goons doing wheelies at 2am. All of this for $175 a night. There must be better options in Hammy !!

Location good for the purpose of our visit. Wide range of adjacent shops. However numerous minor to medium issues meant stay definitely not tops eg no milk on arrival, clock in receptions still on daylight savings (finished 3 weeks earlier), screw hanging loose from bathroom door, hand basin blocked, room could accommodate 3 but corresponding utensils not matching eg 1 wine glass, 1 chair, mismatched crockery etc. Also, spare pillows did not have slips. Reception unmanned at departure (8.45am) so unable to raise these issues and also advise them of unacceptable noise and language in an adjacent room as we were packing car prior to leaving.
