  • A few kilometres downstream from Lake Taupo the river changes to some rapids for a short distance. When the rapids finish there is a drop which creates a waterfall. It all ends with this scene which is stunning. Only a 30 second walk from the car park to the river this shot was taken about a 5 minute walk further downstream on the main track at sunrise.

  • I would not usually consider a garden a must-see experience, but I am really glad a local told us to visit Hamilton Gardens. The experience of wandering through a maze of hedges that open into perfectly cultivated gardens plucked complete from other countries and other eras was quite possibly the closest I will ever come to feeling like Alice in Wonderland come to life. You never know what magical sight waits around the next bend in the path.

Clean rooms, no air con, bathroom had a full size spa bath, hard to get in and out of, toilet space was cramped due to spa taking up all the room. Close to supermarkets which was handy. Other then bathroom and no aircon, our stay was nice

It was a nice studio room, the amenities were more than I expected. Microwave, small fridge, cook top, jug & toaster etc, I was surprised at how many options there were for making food. The bathroom was huge, it had a shower over a bath. The bath was big and spacious. Really enjoyed our stay here, it was only for one night, but very pleasant and the price point for the room was cheap. Would definitely stay there again.

Spacious room, great after hour checkin system. Bed and pillows very comfortable and nice soft linen. The only downside was the very low pressure in the shower , which was over a large spa bath. Overall a great affordable motel and would stay again.

This place was amazing, It was a spur of the moment stay for one night and the staff were brilliant. The staff were so friendly and nothing was any trouble I even got an upgrade to a room with a spa. I highly recommend this hotel.

The room needs to be updated, the bath room needs a complete rebuld, spa bath was very difficult to get in and out of and dangerous a big showner area would have been great. We didn't use the pool as it was winter.

Staff welcoming and friendly with great customer services. Only stayed overnight and wish we had time to use spa bath. Although great to have, bath was a little high getting in to access shower. Otherwise, still recommend as room has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Thank you.

I could tell that housekeeping had done their best to keep the room clean and tidy. It's just old and had dirt in places for so long that probably can't be cleaned by the housekeepers. Staff are very friendly.

Cost effective, comfortable bed, fitted out with cook top, microwave, jug, toaster, cutlery, crockery, pots & pans & private bathroom. Was a bit tired in general especially the bathroom & the bathroom in need of a deep clean. However I just needed a bed & a bathroom for 1 night at a reasonable price & it was all of those things so I was more than happy.
