I recently stayed at Eurostars Puerta Real and the experience fell far short of its 4-star “upscale” claim.
The biggest issue was the bed. It was extremely hard and uncomfortable, to the point where I woke up multiple times in pain and even experienced numbness in my legs. I have genuinely slept on more comfortable sofa beds.
The second major issue was the lack of transparency about climate control. Expedia did not disclose that the AC is centralized. During our stay, only heat was available, making the room unbearably hot despite cold weather outside. Our room faced an interior courtyard where residents could easily see in, so opening the window for airflow meant sacrificing privacy; however because it faced a closed courtyard there was no airflow. We were initially told we could switch rooms to one that faced the Main Street, but were then told the hotel was fully booked. The only solution offered was a fan, which is unacceptable for a nearly $400 stay. Alternatively, we were offered a sister property that was worst-reviewed and further from the city center I paid to be in; we declined due to a short stay.
Other issues included a TV volume capped too low to hear (fixed the next day) and a disappointing, very basic breakfast. The “gym” was minimal.
Positives were the convenient location, good shower, sauna/steam room, and the professionalism of Ms. Wei at reception.
Overall, this hotel does not meet its advertised standard. I would not stay again or recommend it.
