Cathedral Mountain Lodge Getaway Vacation

Had a wonderful time! Cathedral Mountain Lodge was in a beautiful area between mountains with the Kicking Horse River in front. Stayed in a Premier King cabin which was very nicely decorated and comfortable. King size bed, fireplace with plenty of cut firewood, nicely appointed bathroom with deep soaker tub. Cabin porch had two Adirondack chairs for lounging. The Lodge has a nice fireplace with chairs to lounge, read, or visit. Also, the Lodge has a fireplace outside on the deck. Had two wonderful evening meals at the Lodge. The breakfast buffet was great with excellent service. Everyone we encountered was very professional, pleasant, and accommodating. Would highly recommend to others.

Breathtakingly Magnificent

We drove into the lodge at night and the sight of the lit cabins instantly won us over! From the warm wood cabins, to the the main lodge where we ate like kings in front of a huge roaring fire, our stay was far too short! Book at least 2 nights!

Beautiful resort next to Cathedral Mountain.

Great resort by Kicking Horse river surrounded by beautiful mountains. Excellent restaurant. Enjoyed the great big wood burning fireplace. Wonderful autumn colors. Great hikes nearby.

Luxury in the Mountains

A great place to stay in the heart of the mountains, the restaurant is highly recommended with outstanding quality and friendly staff. Accommodation is quiet (at night) comfortable with log or gas stoves and a ceiling fan with sumptuous bedding and modern bathroom, no TV, good wireless internet and tea/coffee/fridge in cabins.

A treat at the foot of the mountains

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay after 4 days of cycling. Very romantic with cosy logs fires and a deep bath to soak in. Breakfast was wonderful and beautifully presented.

This was the best accomodation we have stayed in during out 3 week Canada trip despite having paid (much) more for other hotels. Highly recommended.

Luxury in the Canadian Rockies

We had a great time at the Cathedral Mountain Lodge. We knew that our stay could include complimentary canoeing at Moraine Lake, so as we were en route from Banff we called Cathedral, they called in a voucher at the lake, and we had a gorgeous paddle just as the sun broke through that afternoon. The accommodations were deluxe, the staff were very helpful, and we had a delicious gourmet dinner that evening...after visiting Takkakaw Fallls, about 15 minutes down the road. Highly recommended.

Beautiful and comfy place away from crowds

This was actually one of the last places available in the Lake Louise area, so we almost lucked into staying here. We had a premiere cabin (28) which was a stand alone cabin (not like a duplex). The pictures on the website are accurate. The king size bed, cool breeze in the evening and furthest distance from the road and kitchen gave us a fantastic nights sleep. You can barely hear the train go by in the distance and we didn't hear any road or kitchen noise in our cabin. Another highlight was dinner at the restaurant. DELICIOUS! If you can, I would recommend getting a table outside on the porch. Or, as we did, move outside by the fire for dessert. It was gorgeous. Yes, there was a little mouse that ran around and a chipmunk, but the are everywhere in those mountains. It didn't bother us at all. The waitstaff was international and helpful. Also included in our room was free breakfast buffet in the morning (not amazing but still good), free wifi (that barely reached to our cabin but was nice to have for the few times we needed it) and 1 free hour of canoe rental at Lake Morraine. Canoeing Morraine was probably our favorite (fewer crowds and maybe even more beautiful than Lake Louise). Takakkaw Falls is right up the road and worth a visit too. It's all a little on the expensive side, but we thought it was worth it...way better than staying at a place like the crowed Fairmont!

Great location in the Rockies

Lovely log cabins; clean with interesting décor. A lot of hiking trails in the area. Breakfast was good; ate at the restaurant for dinner ... food was good. Fire place did not have a great draw so could not get a good fire going which is always nice to have in the evenings in the mountains. Overall, was as expected for cabins in the Rockies ... though perhaps a bit over priced.

Good if you want to disconnect

No room service No amenities No telephone No TV Poor internet You are paying a premium for the location, very secluded. This is a good place to go if you _really_ want to get away from it all. In my opinion, money could be better spent in a more central location with amenities (ie. Banff or lake Louise).

Not worth the price.

Before we leave for Banff on vacation, we had really expected the stay at Cathedral Mountain Lodge, because the photo on hotels.com was beautiful and the room was expensive. While we got there, we soon discovered that the location wasn't view-attractive at all, don't expect anything spectacular from your window! Our cabin was semi attached to another, room was very small and fully-furnished made the space more crowded, bathroom was slightly bigger, but nothing fancy. In-room appliances and cleaning products were under expectation if value its room rate. Only thing good was the breakfast, very European style, tasty Danish. We were heading to Lake Louis and icefield after this stay, but we finally realised that we wasted our time (20 min from Lake) and money staying here but not Moraine Lake or Lake Louis. Totally over-priced and over-rated.

Great Location Great Food!

Great Location, Great Food, & the rooms were very nice. I proposed to my Girl Friend right before we arrived. I had told the lodge beforehand so I was expecting some recognition of the occasion or some personal touch ( a card or something). I guess they forgot.

heimelige romantische Zimmer

Waren schon zum dritten mal in dieser Lodge. Gratis Frühstück. Hatten das Häuschen/Zimmer direkt hinter dem Haupthaus/Küche wo man leider immer die etwas laute Lüftung der Küche surren hörte.

The best lodging of our vacation!

We loved, loved, loved our stay! Unfortunately, we only booked one night - wish we could have stayed longer! If you have any proconceived notions of staying in a log cabin in the Canadian Rockies, then this is the place to stay - it will meet all of your expectations!

Beautiful mountain getaway in cozy private cabins

We stayed on the last weekend it was open for the season to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. There was a mix up with our booking (we'd only been booked for 1 night instead of 2), but they set to fixing it promptly. Initially, they said they'd need to move us to a larger cabin the second night - I really preferred to be able to just settle in & not move, but they offered us a complimentary meal or bottle of wine for the inconvenience. By the time we came back to our room from dinner in town, they'd rearranged things so we didn't have to move & a bottle of wine with a note was waiting for us. The setting, private cabins' decor, lodge, the breakfasts & everything about the resort was incredible. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. They made it a truly wonderful getaway where we felt very welcome (which I didn't expect as with a last weekend most were moving on afterwards...). The weather wasn't great, but the wood fireplace made it a cozy and romantic place to snuggle up in. Although no TV or internet, we were prepared & took a laptop with movies in case the weather kept us in. There are great hiking & walking trails nearby that we visited when the rain stopped briefly. We had an amazing meal at the restaurant (their chef was brilliant!), that they still even took off the bill at checkout due to the booking mix up. I can't say enough about how much we both enjoyed our stay and cant wait to go back (too bad it's closed for Winter Cross Country ski season!

Nice hotel, beautiful surroundings, expensive

We enjoyed out stay, staff were extremely helpful and our cabin was cute and warm. Quite expensive for what you got, cabins close together so had to keep curtains shut otherwise felt exposed. Breakfast lovely and had dinner in restaurant which was delicious.

Lovely Mountain Lodge

Our cabin was quite nice, very cozy. Nestled in the Yoho National Park mountains, it is truly a beautiful place to get away. Only 20 minutes from Lake Louise area, and less than 10 minutes from several beautiful sites in Yoho, including Emerald Lake and Lake O'Hara. However, the lodge is quite far from any major town. There are no restaurants or stores nearby, so you are either forced to eat at the expensive lodge restaurant or to make sandwiches in your cabin. The included breakfast is delicious though! The staff is very helpful and friendly. Overall, this was a great getaway.
