"In our 1-month trip driving from Victoria and around many interesting places on Vancouver Island, then to Vancouver and through older highways from Whistler to Calgary, we stayed at numerous establishments from lesser known ones to some luxurious Marriot hotels. Of all of them Rooms at Riveredge (RaR) was our favourite. The room was very clean (a pet peeve of mine). All amenities were modern and recent. Furniture was not worn. Bed was comfortable. The little patio at the back was great. The patio is not isolated as it is set on a public walk (the Rotary trail) that follows the Kicking Horse River. You are only a few meters from the river and the view from the patio is really nice and the trail is a great way to visit. There are many nearby shops and restaurants. There is one thing to know and that surprised us: this was a last minute booking for us so we didn't have all the information when we got there. There is no office at the location which only has 5 rooms. It shares management and staffing with the Lodge + Lantern which apparently is also a very nice place to stay (from my experience at RaR, I have no doubt). When we arrived at RaR, puzzled to not find a clerk, I called and someone quickly drove over to set us up. Normally I would have had all the required info in an email. Everyone from cleaning staff to desk clerks were very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend RaR if you visit Golden... there is even a boot/shoe dryer available in the room :-) ."
