"The room was lovely and recently upgraded, but the rest of the property, especially for the price, operates as a top notch motel. The front desk staff and check in assistance is less than helpful, there is no electric car charger, something almost mandatory these days at a hotel of this price. The restaurant operated on limited hours, no room service after 9, and I was looked on dumbfounded when I asked for breakfast on a Sunday at 11am! Overall, the feel is of a nice drive up motel and not a 5 star property in Yountville, but the price is the opposite.
I should say the cleaning staff was efficient and good, and the property was well maintained."
"Excellent stay, excellent dinner. Know the parking lot location before you go and save yourself the circling; parking is well located, maybe not intuitive."
The Sandman Santa Rosa Sonoma, an Ascend Collection Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The Sandman was by far the best , most comfortable and best value of any motel we've stayed. They don't try to make higher profits by cutting out amenities you usually expect from a motel, like soap, coffee and one motel on Santa Rosa Avenue even had the heater shut off in the middle of the night and just shirked it off when I complained the next day. My wife, son and I had to shiver beneath blankets. It was too wet and cold to complain at the time but when they checked it the next day the manager said he would have to call a repair company. A little sympathy and price adjustment should have been in order."
"Upon rival the hotel clerk at the desk checking me in was not very helpful then they had a convention going on so that made the hotel very busy. My TV didn’t work when I first got to my room my sheet had a stain on them so I tried to call downstairs to the front desk. No one answered, so I had to walk down to the front desk when I got there I spoke with the same lady who seem like it wasn’t an issue and that she would just send someone up there to check. They have no designated smoking area. The breakfast that they serve is to a restaurant which has $10 cups of orange juice. I booked two rooms they were on the total opposite side of the hotel I asked could I change them? She told me no since I booked through a third-party it just wasn’t a great experience. I would never recommend this hotel and I did since a little bit of prejudice."
