"Feestlokaal van Vooruit" is a historic hall complex built in 1913. Originally it was the party and arts centre of the Ghent labour movement. Since 1982 it has been used by “Arts Centre Vooruit”. They organize numerous events in the 5 most important halls of the building such as debates, literature evenings, concerts, parties, stage performances, dance ... #Ghent #Trovember
City library "De Krook" was built in 2017 by architects Coussée & Goris and Aranda Pigam Vilalta Arquitectes. The sculpture group in front, 3 metres high, is a work by artist Michaël Borremans*. It shows a group of 4 people, each with a different skin colour, leaning their heads against each other. The work symbolizes the exchange of knowledge and culture at the Krook. #Ghent #Trovember #Architecture #Art *Michaël Borremans is a Belgian painter and sculptor. Borremans' work can be seen in the collections of, among others, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Very nice staff. Good breakfast and decent bar. Wouldn't stay again as room very noisy with shouting from street until 4am both nights and then the road sweepers started at 8
