It got 5 for girls at reception and others but it was a place to sleep at best
hostel is okay for solo or backpacking. Literally, just outside the main street. Very accessible to restaurants and transport. Couldn't complain anything coz its cheap... I get what I paid for.
Very welcoming front desk :) Great location to stay!

Do not stay here if you value your sleep. My husband and i booked a private double room, which was at the front of the building. The hostel is in the Latin Quarter, which means a raging party directly outside the room every nught until 4am. Obviously there is no AC, so in summer you have to keep the window open to avoid suffocating to death. Earplugs can only go so far. I barely slept for 3 days. Also, the hostel is very full of other guests, so using the kitchen facilities isn't easy, and breakfast (which is bread, cereal, and tinned fruit, nothing else), is always crowded. The room is also incredibly small, even by European standards. There was nowhere to put anything except the window ledge, so we were on top of each other any time we were in there. The bathroom is also little more than a closet. The shower operates only by pushing a button, which gives you 30 seconds of water, so you have to keep pushing it. And it was the most expensive accommodation during our entire 20 day trip. Really not worth it. Spend your money elsewhere.

Great location and friendly staff. On very busy, noisy street. They actually give free earplugs. I would ask for a back room if I stayed there again.

The pics of the property are NOT a true representation. While the night staff (Hugo) was helpful and accommodating, the property is in need of upgrades to compare to the pictures posted as representation. While I did opt for a ‘mix dorm’, I would have been the only female (let alone a mid-aged female) in the dorm. There was a drunk young man laying across the bunk that was supposed to be mine. Hugo put me into a ‘single’ room. It was the window facing Quay Bar....needless to say, I did not sleep until after 4:00am. (After traveling for 16 hours)
I turned in the door card the next morning and the young man at the bar seemed surprised that I wasn’t staying the full booking. His reply: ‘Well, you won’t be refunded.’
It was well worth the $100 I lost to NOT stay there!!
I had an excellent stay here (2 nights) as a solo traveler. The location is awesome, within about 10 minutes walking of the downtown Galway area, but also near tons of restaurants and pubs. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, the location quiet (they provided ear plugs), and there was even an attached bathroom and shower in the room which were separated so one person could use each at a time. I had a mixed room, and there actually was a mix of genders, which is always a relief. The kitchen is spacious, with a microwave and even refrigerators and cubbies you can use to store food for longer periods of time. Breakfast in the morning was basic--coffee, toast, cereal--but I enjoyed the community of a bunch of people hanging out there together. A downstairs lounge area with a TV and two computers was also a nice place to hang out for a few hours while I was trying to kill some time. I think this is a great hostel for solo travelers, and people staying at a hostel for longer periods of time. The staff was very friendly, too, which I think is a plus. I highly recommend this hostel; it's probably one of the best ones I've stayed at.
