We stay at the Porto Bay twice a year and the breakfasts have never let the hotel down. Plenty of hot and cold choices including pastries and various fresh fruits. The stafff are wonderful. They're so attentive a you can linger as long as you want, over ample cups of coffee

The breakfast was excellent so many options to choose from. We ate in the restaurant a few nights for dinner once again amazing choice and quality of food served. All of the staff were attentive and very pleasant. Would most definitely recommend this as a destination.

Staff were great. Breakfast was good. Loved the rooftop terrace. Get a sea view room as it’s so good to enjoy sunshine all day and watch the cruise ships sailing in and out. The location of the hotel is the best. Right on the waterfront and the restaurants in the old town are on your doorstep so why the 4* review? The outdoor swimming pool isn’t the best. Small, quite shallow and cold and only 1 small beach towel a day. Once you’ve had a swim you’re left with a very wet towel. Having said that I’d happily go back again.

Would recommend this hotel with helpful friendly staff. Only reason for 4 stars was a little slow in buffet restaurant. Food very good for buffet, clean hotel and great location. Entertainment every evening in a relaxed atmosphere. Spa and pool are good as well.

I went in July 2024 and stayed in an ocean front suite. We loved our room, the hotel is beautiful and the staff were very friendly! The location is perfect for walking around, close to many shops and restaurants. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the pool area is clean and relaxing.

All aspects of this hotel were fantastic from the friendly and accommodating staff in the restaurant, bar area , front desk and spa services. The hotel rooftop was excellent and enjoyed the special event of bubbles and sushi. The location was very convenient for walking to many attractions. Nice to have on site parking and the breakfast buffet that was exceptional. We enjoyed staying here and would highly recommend to others.

Best position for Funchal old town.

Lovely hotel in the best position for the old town of Funchal and taking the cable car to the botanical gardens. Good breakfast & great views if you have booked a sea front room. Nice pool area with plenty of sun beds. We had hired a car so their secure parking for just €10/day was useful. Would stay here again.

Amazing stay in a great room. We were in room 22 on the ground floor with sea view and instant access to the loungers and ground floor jacuzzi. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Will definitely stay here again.
