I hate to write a negative review, especially for a place I had so much hope in. We booked five nights here, making it the “luxurious” chapter of our babymoon. Here are some things I wish I knew about this place:
1. the only way to access it is a twenty minute boat ride from the island of Flores.
2. The “collective” boats from the hotel are at 5 am, 7 am, 1 pm, 4 pm, and 10 pm. That means whenever you want to go into town for a tour, a stroll, anything at all, you either need to go at one of these times, or pay $25 USD PER PERSON to get outside of the hotel.
3. This boat situation would be acceptable if there was a lot to do at the hotel. Unfortunately, it feels like an abandoned hotel. We were there five nights and it was no where near capacity. Sometimes we were the only people there.
4. The food was very disappointing. Pasta is the only option for a vegetarian main course. The menu for lunch/dinner is more expensive than a New York City dinner (but less than half as tasty).
5. Not a free breakfast. You get one small plate from the menu, one watered down coffee, and if you want something more you will have to pay a lot. Also, your order will take an hour to come and not once did our order come correctly.
6. Check the final bill. They added $250 USD for a tour we didn’t take.
