We've rounded up all the info you need to make your flight an enjoyable experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be speeding through the airport and seeing the best of Loon Lake in no time flat. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First, pack in your passport, travel documents, wallet and vital medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling book and a laptop filled with your favourite movies are some great options. If you hope to catch forty winks, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also be useful. Finally, find room for a few toiletry items so you'll arrive looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp or pointed objects lurking in the bottom of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive goods, such as bleach and fuel, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Don layers of natural-fibre clothing and pack a sweater in case it gets cool. Always opt for flat, slightly roomy shoes as your feet may swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and chunky boots in your checked baggage.
- Unfortunately, one risk of flying long distances is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, take every opportunity to walk around and give your legs a stretch. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help reduce this risk.
