Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy tips that will get your Glasgow Point holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you've got all the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare set of clothes and a good book. Secondly, leave space in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your important medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow too. What to wear on a flight:

• Your main aim is to be as comfortable as possible. Choose a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to bring a pullover in case you get chilly in the cabin.
• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.

• Your ID and travel documents will need to be inspected by airport security personnel. Keep them within easy reach so you don't hold up the queue.
