Super B&B within easy reach of Durham

Friendly welcome from Keith. Very good breakfast with local ingredients. Some nice touches, the coffee pod machine and fresh milk supplied to the room. The Old Post Office is full of character in a lovely village with a particularly good Italian restaurant.

Nice break with our grandchildren

Very clean and comfortable family room. Hosts Keith and Pauline were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was all local produce and delicious.

Great quirky little place to stay situated half way between Newcastle and Durham. Staff were lovely and there were great amenities. The local area also has some lovely places to eat. We stayed one night but would be a good base for visiting a few of the local attractions.

Lovely warm welcome, room was very well presented with lots of little extra touches. The milk fridge outside our room was particularly special. Owners were so accommodating and breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Home from home

It’s like going home returning to the Old Post Office - but you’re looked after better - I can’t speak highly enough of the place There is also a quiet pub next door that provides excellent food and good beer

Great place to stay!

Warm welcome, nice clean room, lots of hand sanitiser, wipes etc throughout the property and in room, great extras in the room including a Terrys Chocolate Orange my daughter loved on my return from the business trip! Plenty of free parking outside and a delicious breakfast to start a busy day. Looking forward to returning in the summer with the wonderful back garden area complete with hens. Can't recommend this place enough for business or pleasure.

If you are looking for a place to stay in this area, you have found it, please stop searching. We recently travelled around the UK staying in a different B&B each night. All of them were highly rated on websites and all of them were great but The Old Post Office was head and shoulders the best by some distance. Thanks for a great stay

wonderful stay

Had a wonderful 3 day mini break staying in the family room. The owners had engaged with me early to ensure they knew what time I was arriving. Upon arrival we were given a thorough room acquaint. There is a wide range of breakfasts using local produce and Over the three days we managed to get through everything (apart from the porridge (with whiskey)). The attention to detail was outstanding and it was the little personal touches that made this stand out. The hosts were really engaging and made the stay pleasurable.

Lovely welcome from Keith and Pauline , room was comfy , very oldy worldy bit to much clutter but for me, but they offered everything , chocolates in the room home made biscuits tea coffee even an ironing board and toiletries but I like my own stuff . Nothing was a bother to them . Would stay again definitely thank you

Welcoming and Charming

We had an absolutely delightful experience at the Old Post Office. Pauline and Keith were the most generous hosts. The room was beautiful, the food delicious, the conversation lovely, and all of the thoughtful touches made our stay very special. The town of Lanchester is warm and down to earth as well. A wonderful stay.
