This coming April, National Geographic Live! brings renowned ornithologist Ed Scholes and legendary photographer Tim Laman to Seattle to recount their experience tracking down and photographing all 39 species. This event will certainly sell out, so get your tickets early. April 28, 29, and 30.
A set by Dale Chihuly gives this performance of Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle a distinctive look. At just over an hour long, this fairy tale-turned-opera is easily taken in. Should be a real treat to hear the Seattle Symphony play an opera score. Two nights only - May 15 and 17, 2012.

A Quintessential Art Deco Skyscraper This Art Deco landmark in downtown Seattle, was designed and built to be "A Modern Office Building of Distinction and Character Combining Beauty and Utility” Designed by architect Abraham Horace Albertson, with Joseph Wade Wilson and Paul David Richardson, It costed about $2 million and took a year to build. It was described as: "With its muscular vertical piers and tapering setbacks, the Seattle Tower is considered Seattle's quintessential Art Deco skyscraper … The client wanted a building that would be a symbol of reliability and permanence and the architects responded with a building that was intended to suggest the mountains that surround Seattle. The multi-colored brick becomes gradually lighter as it reaches the top of the building and the piers are finished with light terra-cotta resembling snow-capped rocky peaks.
