"The actual hotel is really very good and the rooms are outstanding. Nice grounds, nice pool and the food was also of a decent quality. Now on a road trip around South Africa, you get used to warnings about safety and taking care of belongings. Here we were welcomed with a lengthy delivery on all the steps the hotel was taking and what in turn we needed to do, which even by SA standards appeared a bit alarming, so made you think the surrounding area must be a huge 'worry'. "Found Chrislin Lodge very comfortable and relaxing. Well organised establishment, safe with friendly staff. Close to Addo Elephant park, only downside was the condition of the access roads, where road works are being conducted."

"Hopewell is potentially a stupendous destination. Accommodation was excellent and luxurious. I feel they tried too hard to provide very fancy food that did not quite come off and this could be improved. They do not have the Big 5 but there is plenty of game to see and the Ranger is excellent. This is a fantastic location for a honeymoon or just a peaceful getaway in the Eastern Cape Bush."
